Tuesday Night Mixed Doubles Season 2015/16

Any new, current or past members who are interested in being placed in a team for the upcoming Summer mixed doubles season please email us by 30th September.

The season will commence on 3 November starting at 7pm and will run on Tuesday nights through to the end of March, with a break over Christmas/January.

Structure to be determined but in the past, teams were made up of two women and two men and you played 3 sets of doubles each week.

Cost is $40 for 2015/16 Tennis SA registered members, and $65 for non-registered members.

It is a fun and relaxed competition, and for those playing Saturday's it gives you a good hit in between!

Whilst we welcome everyone to register and join in the fun that is our social mixed doubles competition, we are also looking for someone who is keen to play to also assist with setting up and running the season. It is very minimal work, the most work is initially putting together teams and the fixtures, but once running there is not much to organise. If we can find a couple of people willing that will also reduce the workload somewhat.

It would be a shame to not have the competition go ahead because no one puts their hand up to organise, so please get in your player nominations, and your expressions to assist with running.

Thursday Night Winter Season 2015

***The 2015 Thursday Night Winter Season has now reached capacity and we are no longer taking any further nominations***

Summer tennis is drawing to a close and this of course means that winter is right around the corner. As we have for the past few years the Campbelltown Tennis Club will once again be holding a winter tennis competition on Thursday nights running from May to September (depending on fixture draw).

The format for this competition is teams of 3 players who then play 2 sets of doubles and 2 sets of singles for the night. Once again, the teams will be drawn to attempt to make them as even as possible. This is a very social competition in which fun on and off the court is just as important as the results.

If you would like to sign up for the upcoming Winter season, please contact David Sosnowski. We do have limited places and it is first come first serve so be sure to register your interest quickly.

We hope to see you out on Thursday nights over Winter.

A shoutout too to the Div 5 Gold Men who made the Grand Final also, but unfortunately were well beaten by Pembroke who were by far the best team in the division all season long.

Another big congrats to our Boys Div 3 team who took out the EDTA Winter Premiership with a closely fought win over Beaumont Blue. Well done boys!

And to our Campbelltown Black Orange Ball team, who lost in the Grand Final to Trinity/EAP.

Campbelltown Tennis & Netball Club - Annual General Meeting 2013

Thankyou so much to everyone from the Tennis Club who attended the AGM on Tuesday night, and an extra big thankyou to the three reps from Tennis, Tim Eckert, Robyn Filmer and Susan Tardivo, who have put their hand up to be involved on the CTNC Management Committee for 2013/14. This is such an important and often thankless role in order to keep the club's facilities in good shape and work towards improving your club.

A big thankyou to the outgoing President Phil Williams who has done a brilliant job in bringing together and improving the lines of communication between the Tennis and Netball clubs. We thank Phil for all his time and effort during his time on the Management Committee and are pleased that he will continue assisting the Tennis Committee as a general committee member.

The Tennis Committee will continue on with Alex Wyatt as Chairperson, and David Sosnowski as Treasurer, however, with Robyn stepping up to the Management Committee, the Tennis Committee is now in need of a new Secretary. The Secretary position involves being the centre of communication lines for the Tennis club (mostly email), preparation of agenda and minutes, updating the online member database, and attendance at one meeting per month.

Please have a serious think about it, and contact us if you would like to volunteer a small amount of your time back into your club. If everyone puts a bit of time back into the committee we would have a constant, fairly shared workload and range of skills which would greatly assist with keeping our great club running and thriving into the future.

New Coach Announcement - Atilio Waltcheff

To all tennis members of Campbelltown Tennis Club; the tennis committee is pleased  to announce the appointment of a new club coach, Atilio Waltcheff starting in 2013.

Atilio has signed a four year agreement and his credentials are without question very extensive; Atilio’s presence will be obvious as he builds the junior program and he can offer his level 2 coaching experience to existing players also.

A sample of his details are: 20 years Coaching Experience; 10th anniversary of his Tennis School; Chairman of the South Australian Local Coaching Advisory Group (LCAG); initiator of the 'orange' and 'green' ball in EDTA and other associations.

He brings qualifications such as:  Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement); Tennis Australia Junior Development Coach and Club Professional Coach; a Grad Dip in Teaching and Learning and a Certificate in Strength and Conditioning.

Atilio’s work with the MLC Tennis Hot Shots program and the Hot Shots Tennis in Schools make him an ideal coach to take carriage at the early stages of our own club Hot Shots program.

Pierino and I can assure you all that we are entering a new era at the club and we are very confident that the future of Campbelltown tennis will be well placed with Atilio, Pierino and myself championing the growth and development of juniors and seniors to ensure we have an exciting and enjoyable time now and in the future.

We already have a link to Atilio’s website, that allows online booking for tennis lessons and you can read Atilio’s resume in more detail.

We also plan to have an open day at the club in the new year to allow all members to meet Atilio; this will be scheduled soon and emailed to all members and advertised here in due course.

All the best for the Christmas season,

Alex Wyatt,

Chairperson

CTC Coaching Update

To all tennis players, junior and senior at Campbelltown, I can inform you that James Pick has resigned as club coach at our club effective for the start of term 4 of this school year.

While the Campbelltown Tennis Club regret the inconvenience to juniors at this time, we appreciate the difficult decision that James has had to make and trust his future tennis work at Burnside will be fruitful and further his coaching career.

As a result of James departure; Pierino Salvatore and myself have been in discussions regarding a new club coach and I can say we are in the final negotiations with a replacement coach that should, and will create significant interest and opportunities for juniors at the club.

We foresee this change, in conjunction with the initiation of a local school hot shots program, as re-establishing our junior program that will no doubt grow and develop in the future with the coach and Pierino working in tandem on this development path. A further result will be the growth of the membership of tennis. Pierino and I see this change as a positive one for Campbelltown and tennis at our club. As negotiations are finalised, we will keep you all informed of the who the new coach is and when the person will be starting at Campbelltown.

Court Availability 2012/13

As the summer season is fast approaching, we have received a number of queries regarding Thursday night hitting and when it begins again, the Winter Thursday night competition is currently starting finals, so there will be a number of courts available for hitting as of this Thursday 13 September (courts 4-6 available), Thursday 20 and 27 September (courts 2,4-6 available) with court 1 available after coaching is complete. From Thursday 4 October all courts (except court 1 until coaching is finished) will again be available for hitting, with priority given to those who are playing Saturday afternoon EDTA competition over summer.

We will also offer Monday nights from Monday 17 September for hitting (courts 3-6 - with courts 1 & 2 becoming available following coaching around 8pm), again for those who are playing Saturday afternoons, as it can be difficult to find court space early in the summer season on Thursday afternoons.

Court availability over Christmas break

For those of you who are interested in continuing to hit during the Christmas break, Monday and Thursday nights will continue for a casual hit from 7pm.

However there will be a 2 week period where the courts will be under repair from Wednesday 4 - Wednesday 18 January, and during this time there will be strictly NO access to the courts.

During this time we have the opportunity to use the courts at Samuel Street, Tranmere on 5 Jan and 12 Jan. However due to court hire we will only go ahead if there is enough interest. Please contact David Sosnowski if you are interested in booking a court for one, or both of the nights.

For a more detailed rundown on the court availability over the break, please head to the Court Usage page.
