       Presentation Night/AGM 2010

This year the club is again combining the Junior and Senior Presentations into one evening along with the AGM.

It will kick off at 6.30pm at Emery Road, with the AGM, then Junior Presentations, followed by a BBQ dinner, and Senior Presentation at the end.

       New Coaches Announcement

The Campbelltown Tennis Committee are very excited and pleased to announce the appointment of two new club coaches, Sarah Tirimacco and James Pick.

They will be coming out to one of our summer practices to meet all the juniors and they will be attending our end of summer presentation on the 20th March at the clubrooms to meet all juniors and seniors. They will also be conducting a holiday tennis clinics in the April holidays.

       Summer Juniors

Junior club practice is recommencing on Tuesday the 2nd February from 4pm to 6pm and will continue till the 23rd March. The club is currently advertising for a new club coach to be in place for the start of our junior winter competition




       Senior Fixture Changes

Please note there has already been a fixture change for Round 1 (10 October) of the senior season. Division 3 will be playing against Rostrevor Red in an Early at Playford Road, Newton.

For the rest of the season all senior fixture changes and important info will be placed on the Team Info page.




       CTNC Court Upgrade Official Opening - Friday 9 October 2009

The Campbelltown Tennis and Netball Club would like to invite all members and supporters, past and present, of the club to coming along to the official opening of the Campbelltown Tennis and Netball Club court upgrade by the Hon. Simon Brewer, Mayor of Campbelltown. The event will take place on Friday 9 October from 6.00 - 7.30pm.




       Junior Winter Finals 2009

Big congratulations to our Division 5 girls, who defeated Rostrevor in their Grand Final 5 sets to 1! Well done girls!

Also, congratulations to our Div1A Orange and Div 1B boys who both made their respective Grand Finals, and both played Trinity Blue, but unfortunately both lost in close matches, 1 set to 3, and 2 sets to 3.




       2009/10 Monday Night Social Mixed Doubles Competition

We are kicking off the brand new Monday Night Social Mixed Doubles Competition this summer, on our newly resurfaced, and upgraded lighting which now covers all 6 courts at Emery Road.

All of the information for the competition can be found on the Nomination Form.

If you can’t get a whole team together, but are still interested in playing let John know and he will be able to slot you into a team if there are places left.

       CTC Annual General Meeting

The Campbelltown Tennis Club are proud to announce the 2009/10 Committee which was elected at the AGM on Tuesday 1 September.

John Tardivo will continue on his great work as Chairperson. Mark Sosnowski, who was interim Secretary for part of 2009, has taken up the position for 2009/10. While David Sosnowski will again be Treasurer. Following her amazing work building the juniors over the last 4 years, Susan Tardivo will continue on as Junior Coordinator. And Angelo Mezzini will again take on the Social & Fundraising Coordinator position. The general committee positions will be taken up by Tim Eckert, Marco Maio, Julia Switala and Phil Williams, as well as possibly some others which will be confirmed by the next committee meeting.




       Open / Registration Day

We had a nice day for our Open/Registration Day which attracted new members and current members alike. Thankyou to all who attended and registered for season 2009/10. If you were unable to attend please call Susan on 0419 031 961 (juniors), or John on 0410 931 151 (seniors) before Monday 31 August to register your interest in playing, or you risk missing out on being placed in a team.

       Emery Road Court Upgrade

The first stage of the upgrade has now been completed, with the new lighting and fencing complete. The courts are now suitable for playing non-competition matches for the period until the resurfacing begins, estimated to be early September.

The Campbelltown Tennis Club would like to thank both the Campbelltown City Council, and Government of South Australia - Office for Recreation and Sport, for their generosity in helping out with grants for our exciting new project. But especially Susan Tardivo, and the Campbelltown Tennis and Netball Club Management Committee who has spent countless hours of their own time putting together grant proposals, getting quotes, organising contractors, etc. all for the progress of our club!

       2009 Mens Winter Social Competition

The 2009 competition has now kicked off, and will run through until September at both our Emery Road, Campbelltown courts, and the EDTA's Samuel Street, Tranmere courts.

       2009 SAPES Games

Congratulations to Anita Russo and David Sosnowski who recently competed in the 2009 South Australian Police & Emergency Services Games. They played both mixed doubles and singles each, and finished 2nd in all three, winning 4 silver medals betwen them!

       Les Semmens Award 2008/09

Dean Polisena (Div 1B) has won the Les Semmens Award which will be presented to him next Saturday at the Campbelltown Council.

Congratulations to Dean from everyone, this is not only a great honour for him but it is also an honor for our club.

Last year's winner Ernest Luna (Div 1A) is also playing for Campbelltown.




       2009 Presentation Night

This season's Presentation Night will be held at our Emery Road clubrooms on Saturday 4 April 2009, and combine both Junior and Senior Presentations. We need to know numbers as soon as possible, so please inform your team captain how many will be attending for catering purposes!

       Junior Interassociation Tournament

Congratulations to all our boys that were involved in the Interassociation Tournament that was part of the World Tennis Challange.

The EDTA's 14's and 15's boys teams won overall. I am very proud to say that in the 14's team 2 of the 4 boys were from the Campbelltown Tennis Club and in the 15's team 3 of the 4 boys were from Campbelltown. These boys were Dean Polisena, Charlie and Alex Savory, Jake Galouzis and Paul Agostinelli. Well done to you all!!!




       Lord Mayors Cup 2009

Congratulations to Paul Hedges & Marco Maio, David & Mark Sosnowski, and Nick Mashei & Tony Polese who finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the Lord Mayors Cup!

As a lead up to the World Tennis Challenge, the Lord Mayors Cup is a doubles tournament open to all standards of players, which took place at Memorial Drive.

All of the guys thoroughly enjoyed the two days of competition, and are now looking forward to the 2010 tournament! You can view the results and final standings here, and there are a couple of photos of the boys below.




       Hills Junior Tournament - Mt Barker

Congratulations to Dean Polisena, from our Division 1B juniors, who won the consolation Grand Final in the Hills Tournament in Mt Barker on the 29th December, 9-2. He played very well throughout the tournament, coming up against the number one seed (P Trutwin) in his second round. This match could have gone either way, the end result was 7-9 and probably should have been the Grand Final for the major round as both boys had easy Grand Finals in the end.

Dean and his doubles partner Harry Mlaco made it to the semi finals in the doubles competition going down 3-9 to the number one seeds.




       Family Day/Club Tournament

Thankyou to all who attended, and helped organise the day. It was a resounding success, and a great day was had by all involved!

       Junior Interassociation Representatives

Congratulations to all of our juniors who have been invited to represent the Eastern Districts Tennis Association in the Interassociation Tournament in January 2009. They are: Charlie Savory (Div1A), Paul Agostinelli (Div 1A), Ernest Luna (Div1A), Jake Galouzis (Div1B), Dean Polisena (Div1B), Harry Mlaco (Div1B), Jordan Switala (Div1B) and Cruise Samardzic (Div5A).




       Division 5 Showdown IV - Sat 22 November 2008

The massive Division 5 Showdown is back after two long seasons! The Black team have moved back up to Div 5 after their successful 2007/08 season which saw them take out the Premiership in Division 6. But they are back and want more success in Div 5! Standing in their way is a consistent Orange team, who enjoy finals tennis most seasons in Div 5.

Get down to the club on Sat 22 November at 12.45pm to see all the action unfold! With plenty of mouthwatering matchups, there is sure to be plenty of entertaining tennis! All of our Campbelltown teams other than Div 4 will be playing at our home courts that day, so there will be plenty of tennis, along with cheap drinks and a BBQ all afternoon!

       Senior Summer Season 2008/09

The summer season is upon us again starting on Saturday 11 October, so please make sure you check where and when you are playing, or better still, come out on Thursday night from 7pm for a hit and check with your team captain!

All captains have been announced, and they will be: Division 3 - Marco Maio, Division 4 - John Tardivo, Division 4MO - Joe Carbone, Division 5 Orange - Tim Eckert, Division 5 Black - David Sosnowski and Division 5MO - Alex Wyatt.

All information from the committee and EDTA will be distributed to team captains and they will be responsible to pass that information on to their players. So if you have any questions please talk to your team captain. We have setup a page of Team Info which will include most important information and fixture changes etc. so please keep an eye on it to make life easier for your team captain.

       Senior Summer Season 2008/09

With the Summer Season starting on Saturday 11 October, we are now commencing senior training/hitup from Thursday 2 October at 7pm, all through summer every Thursday night! All summer players are welcome to come out and shake off the cobwebs from Winter!

       Mens Winter Social Competition Grand Final

Congratulations to Full Metal Racquet (Marco Maio, Ash Mashei, Nick Mashei & Tony Polese) who took out the inaugral Campbelltown Tennis Club Social Mens Winter Competition, and shared 3 $50 vouchers and a Wilson tennis bag between all thanks to Sportspower Newton. They managed to overcome Sozzled (Paul Hedges, David Sosnowski, Mark Sosnowski, Ayumu Shimada), who received various Coopers shirts and hats, 3 sets to 2, in what was a matchup deserved of the Grand Final! Was great to see a good crowd out there supporting the Final!

Congratulations must also go to Paul Hedges who won a magnum of Coopers Vintage for being the Best Overall Player over the course of the season, and Marco Maio who was runnerup and won a $50 voucher from Sportspower Newton. The Best Doubles Player went to Mark Sosnowski who won a Wilson tennis bag. While the best players from each team, Daryl Lowry, Steve Mitchell, Joe Carbone, Marco Maio, Paul Hedges and Tim Eckert all received Coopers gear and a bottle of wine.

All reports were that it was very much enjoyed all Winter, so thankyou to everyone who played, and we look forward to seeing you plus hopefully some new teams next year! Also thankyou to John "The Chef" Tardivo who ran the canteen and bar every Thursday, as well as Tim Eckert and Mark Sosnowski who helped organise the prizes. Finally a big thankyou to Sportspower Newton and Coopers who generously donated the prizes for Presentation Night!

       Junior Winter Grand Finals

Our Div 1B boys (Dean Polisena, Harry Mlaco and Jake Galouzis) played their Grand final against ETKG on the 5th September. A fantastic effort from all our boys but unfortunately they went down 3 sets, 18 games to 2 sets, 25 games. As you can see from the results our boys won more games!!!

Our Div 5 Campbelltown Black boys (Liam Switala, Cruise Samardzic and Ji Won Kim pictured below) played their Grand final against Beaumont Gold on the 6th September. They had a fantastic win against the team that finished top in their division. Results were 3 sets, 23 games to 2 sets, 18 games. Well done boys!!




       Upcoming Summer Season

The Open/Registration Day was a massive success, with many new players, especially juniors, signing up for the upcoming summer season. As well as most of last season's players signing up again for another year!

Many thanks to John and Susan Tardivo, and Ann-Margret Piro who were busy running around organising the day and taking the masses of questions and forms that were being filled out during the afternoon!

For those who have not yet signed up and would like to for Summer Season 2008/09, its not quite too late, but you will need to get in quickly! We will be nominating teams in the next week and need to know everyone who will be playing, or you risk missing out. So please call John (0410 931 151) for senior registration, or Susan (0419 031 961) for junior registration as soon as possible!

We also had enough Club Shirt orders for us to have a batch made, which will be ordered on Friday 29 August. As there is a minimum number which have to be made in a batch, it could be a while before another order is submitted. So if you would like a brand new Club Shirt, please call Susan Tardivo on 0419 031 961 before Friday so that you don't miss out! They are only $30 each and come in Mens sizes XS-5XL, Ladies S-3XL and Child 4-16.
